It may be the persons choice regarding themselves, if they are fine with the degenerative effects on mind and body and the embarassement that comes with dependency on motorized transport then that's fine. But it is not okay to harm others out of laziness and comfort addiction. The list of ways in which the excessive personal motorized transport causes harm to people is well known:
People are maimed or killed through direct impacts.
The pollution causes people to develop cancer.
The pollution causes people to develop psychological and heart disease.
The pollution causes global warming, displacing people, harming nature, causing harvest loss.
Car dependence and car centric planning spreads out points of interest increasing the burden of mobility on everyone, especially those who refuse to be moved in a most undignified way: by a motor.
Cars are a misappropiation of public space. Everyone would pay the considerable purchase price or rent for the area a car occupies at any given moment, if it were any other private use of land.
Cars using space like that drives up rent for everyone.
Cars compete for ressources, and emissions and are ressource intensive. While one can hardly condone degenerate behaviour like heating of living spaces for example it can still be seen as a more valid use case for the ressources cars use, especially for the weak, children and elderly on unusually cold nights.
And many more. And I feel like every cager knows and understand those issues very well but is inclined to 'self serving and comfortable reasoning', actively seeking validation of their behaviour ehile avoiding all honesty because they are too lazy to challenge habits.
Motorism is a disease that starts with weakness of the mind and only later spreads out and causes weakness of the body.
