I've only had my a&p and a mechanic position at a regional for a year. So, I'm too new to be jaded. And frankly, I think aircraft are the coolest thing ever and working on aircraft is pretty much life fulfilling, your mileage may very. That said pay starting out isn't great but after 1 or 2 years the majors will snap you up, the shortage ain't getting any better. What you learn in school will only be a fraction of what you'll learn in the field. Be prepared to feel like you know nothing about anything and that's alright. Learning about all of the different systems and working with my hands instead of sitting at a desk is great. Also there's no money in GA, that's for only the really passionate nerds. Unless you're good enough to fix and flip planes but that's over my head.
>>2002434I'm in my 30s, its not too late. You'd at least have experience working in aviation and aircraft knowledge that most mechanics wouldn't have. Incredible pay cut though, but you do you.
