Why is the Northeast Regional sometimes really late?
The only track sharing is with CSX, and they stick to the freight siding. It's not like the regional railroads could slow up an Amtrak, Amtrak always gets priority.

They do, just that NJT trains run way more than acela trains, so they are more likely to snag a wire.

They also run on metro north commuter railroad controlled territory and they give their own trains priority over amtrak.
