Why aren't big wheel bmx bikes more popular? They seem like the best all around option

I would love to have a surly lowside but they are almost impossible to get in my size in europe. Atleast the frameset.
Full on BMX geometry sucks balls for anything thats farther than 2km.
But a comfy single speed with 180mm rotors for fucking around and crusing to my homies on singletrails would be glorious. Dropper post is a must have obviously

Imagine the following:
You buy a bike in a bike shop. It's all expensive, so you get the cheapest model.
Either the derailleur hanger bends and it destroys the derailleur hanger, the wheel, and the derailleur, plus bends the chain.
You're quoted a repair cost that is more than the $400 base-model bike you just brought.
Or else it's a BSO, which is unreliable to start with.
Bikes also require lots of maintenance- typically, it's cables, chains, and shifting (lays down bike on the derailleur hanger, or bangs it into something, then it stops shifting right).

This happens a LOT. Could also be 'shifted gears and pushed the bike backwards,' or 'pushed HARD on the shifter without pedalling-' (lots of things can cause the bike to break from a new rider who doesn't know any better.)
Nexus hubs/SA3 are pretty good/idiot resistant. Super reliable, compared to derailleurs.
But not too many bikes have them.

I squirt my chain once every 3 months and adjust my derailler, change my brakepads/oil once a year on my roadbike.
Its literally 20 minutes of work a year to keep it functional.
I could probably even stretch the bleeding and brakepads to once every 2 years but im paranoid about my brakes.
Bikes literally are the easiest machines to work on.
My DH bike needs around 1 hour a year to keep it fit and reliable. The shocks get send to fox because i dont want to fuck with that.

BMXs are anything but lightweight, even a 20 inch one can be a 12 or 13 kg klunker because it needs to be so overbuilt to handle abuse, and the only reason they feel quick is because of the small wheels that accelerate easily, something that large BMXs wouldn't even have. You'd be better off converting an old rigid MTB into a single speed with MX bars.
