Is this ugly or should I trust the designers who "know what they're doing"? The green lines on the sides are supposed to be leaves btw

It's ugly because it has an ugly shape, not because of the colors.
If you squint or look at the thumbnail, it looks like a sad face, as in :(
Compare with pic related, a 70 year old design.
