I have no issues with these things on the roads.
But I guess this issue is that no one is riding these things on the roads. It's always on sidewalks or bike paths or bike lanes.
I would prefer to see actual enforcement for pedestrian/cyclist infrastructure. Then they could also enforce parking violations and lane obstructions at the same time. Going after distribution is purely because it's cheaper and easier for the powers that be.

The new laws are extremely vague as fuck, but I doubt the goal is to go after people who ride around on normal analog fat bikes. I've seen small gangs of people who essentially ride around on those e-motorcycles the ukies were using when tank hunting. They had no plates or anything and were burning lights/stop signs.

I think it's to target those people. If you're just a normal cyclist with a normal bike, they won't harass you.

Read the first paragraph, they need to resemble a motorcycle or moped AND have one of the bullet point features.

Basically they're banning powered vehicles over 500w which haven't been approved for road use.
