kek, No I was on an xc race 2 or 3 wide and my bar caught a tree limb. Chucked down while going 15+mph, blacked out, woke up and walked up the hill since it was the start of the race and my helmet was cracked.

Australia looked at the data now some parts are mandating helmets if you go out jogging or running. And they have LEOs stationed watching for runners without their helmets. The LEOs also have helmets

I've always rejected helmets and I'll continue not to wear one on my commute, but for recreational rides I've recently not only switched to a sportier bike but also gay ass skin tight shorts and jerseys (which are amazing by the way, back pockets fucking RULE) so I thought I might as well complete the look. Also keeps sweat out of my eyes and honestly looks no dorkier than bike caps.

I think maybe one in ten people on the MTB trail will go without a helmet. Anyone who's halfway to competent wears one. I've fallen over plenty of times going on some harder rides.
Lyrafags wear them because they're going for hours and hours

If you ride at walking speed on well maintained grass 2 meters wide on all sides then no, don't bother.

I didn't wear one until I was in my mid 30s and got serious about off road and single track (I had enough income to get a decent bike). When I finally did lose control and took a good flyer and hard landing I was really glad I had it on. I don't bother with it for a casual cruise around the neighborhood, even though I know better.
