But then I looked at the manufacturer's website, and the specs sheets published there don't mention the max load. So I guess it was buried in the manual, like the author complains.

Fucking hell, let's go a step further, they should publish literally every bit of specs about the bike before I buy it. I wanna know the part numbers of all the stock parts so I can buy a set of spares at the same time as the bike. I should be able to calculate the lifetime expenses of the bike and budget it out to the next 10 years.
