Saw a hilarious noseless bicycle seat on sharktank called the v seat. It seems like to would make it tough to steer.

Has anyone bought this?

I know SMP has been selling a nose down bike seat for years but Ive never seen it in the wild on group rides.

There have been variants on this idea for a long time. SMP isn't even the most extreme version. Look up ISM saddles.

Most saddle problems boil down to sloppy fit. The reason these minimalist saddles are so rare and yet have such a devoted following is that they are devilishly hard to set correctly but once they are, it solves everything. Conversely the reason Brooks and equivalent saddles are so popular is that all setups are equally bad, you are neither punished nor rewarded for putting effort into the setup, so know-nothings convince themselves that they are better than a subject matter expert because their sloppy shit saddle sucks no matter how they position it.

i put a brooks on to 'just ride' when i did a 5 month tour and i didn't even think about my ass being inpained riding long miles in regular clothing.

it was just a comfy ride
bonus leather whicks sweat better than synthetic saddles and so in summer it's very nice and cool.

if you feel like going fast and stuff b17 is just an anchor that doesn't feel racey enough so i don't really ride it much in the city.

god bless the autist boomer dentists who get custom meme saddle fits. 3 times now i have bought a used bike and sold the (rejected) custom meme autist saddle it comes with for more than i paid for the entire bike.

I have one of these. Mixed feelings--you really need to be hanging off the front, and probably to set it fairly low, and I don't think I have the power to weight ratio that you need to do that comfortably all day, and I also suspect I don't have the right road frame for being that far forward. Zip tying the rails to squeeze the prongs closer together helped. But some guys love em.

I'll also add a tentative voice to the Brooks Internet Defense Force--I think they actually are better than most if you're sitting fairly upright. But "better than most" is not real noticeable most of the time unless you're pedaling continuously for quite a while, and most people who do that on a regular basis aren't going to be all that upright.

Translation: After a week of use a brooks saddle has absorbed a gallon of ass sweat while a saddle with a vinyl cover is perfectly clean after a quick wipedown.

Noseless saddles are dangerous. The nose comes into constant contact with your thigh to keep the bike upright and underneath you. Without it you can actually fall out from the side of the bike.

But you don't want your perineum touching the nose. There are only a few saddles that address this. Sometimes called "drop nose"

They look pretty ridiculous but if you have prostate problems this is the way. Your sit bones are a level above the nose and the nose only touches the sides of your thighs

Sqlab tries the drop nose design but doesn't go far enough in my opinion.

I think all saddles will look like this eventually. Cyclists just don't like how it looks but they should get over it

Your idea that you need a meme solution to a common problem is just not correct. It's not to say that your meme solution is invalid but in your head you think all regular saddles cause injury/pain and that is simply untrue.

The real common problem is how many people ride excessive bar drop.

Drop nose saddles are physiologically superior. You can cope all you want about it, there is zero benefit to having a high nose saddle, only exposing yourself to injury in an area humans did not evolve to put pressure on.

Never had a single dick issue in more than a decade of almost uninterrupted daily riding. Short rides, multi day rides etc.
It's either a question of individual physiology and tolerance, riding style or setup.

They're just typically broader than normal saddles and personally I don't want my thighs scraping the broad nose of the dropnose saddle. I don't even understand what this design is trying to solve. If you don't want to sit on the nose, don't sit on the nose

I've toured for decades on brooks and they were comfier than a fully plush leather sofa. I'd be off the bike to get something from a kiosk and I'd just want to get back on the couch again because it would be better than standing.
Today, it's not that great and I don't know why.
Actually I do know why, I'm 105kgs and that weight is crushed onto a tiny bit of leather and two steel rails.
If I were at a fighting weight, like I used to, then the brooks would handle it no problem.
Anyway, I've bought the SQLabs and the Selle SMPs and they are all worse than the brooks because the leather and the plastics they use are sticky and your shorts become abrasive within an hour. The brooks leather is slippier.
