I hate brooks grips.
Major advantage of alt bars is being able to run longer grips. But brooks ones are super short.
The locking collars look hideous. They aren't comfy. The whole 'vintage' material/ bartape on lockon grips concept was frequently heavily heavily discounted on CRC and wiggle whenever companies put it out because it looks like shit.

I got some like-new brooks grips for basically free on a cheap bike i stripped the other day, someones retarded custom build that never got ridden. Ended up putting them on a total shitter that i sold for $20 just cos i hate them so much.

It's a huge sellout company with a bunch of bullshit products.
Brooks bags are equally hideous.
But brooks saddles can still be pretty good.
Carradice bags are amazing.
Mercian and Bob Jackson frames were excellent and at an excellent price point for a long time. And the audaux style bikes they promoted for a long time are now basically what road bikes have become.
UK doesn't have nothing.

correct
cork grips can great but I don't like the look. brown is my least favorite color.
and I'm not a fan of rubber grips, I don't like how they act in the heat of the sun on hot days. some of them even get sticky in the heat.
silicone foam grips like esi are quite nice but they're all function and no class.

Not a good choice for someone who regularly likes to tinker with different setups of course, but elegance doesn’t always come the easy way.

I’ve had several lock on grips too and honestly have nothing against them really, but when I compared my oury lock ons to the same model slip on they just felt nicer.

depends on the grip, foam or silicon, ESI etc are difficult to get on and off without tearing. Most rubber grips can easily be taken on and off though just by lifting them a little with a screwdriver and spraying. Same with bartape. You can rewrap fizik classic tape pretty easily but not really cork.

yes and this is exactly what regular grips are, they're harder to install and look simpler. It's not about the process but about the result.
