>>2034742>Supersonic airliners filled a niche that no one actually cares about. So you say. But there are those who place a very high value on saving time and spend a lot on transportation availabilty (pic related) Unfortunately, Concorde service didn't provide that. Miss the daily flight from JFK to LHR and your options were to wait until tomorrow or charter a subsonic flight right now to get there. The subsonic option would get you there earlier.
Cost really isn't a factor. The $3000 Concorde ticket cost $2500 more for a three hour time savings. $833/hour is cheap for an executives time.
What would sell supersonic service is a fleet of Mach 2 or better business jets. Dispatchable rapidly. On demand or on a high frequency service.
>Concorde ... because it could only fly overland,Could NOT fly overland. So JFK to LAX service was out. Shame about the OK City tests and the FAA refusing to pay for what was actually thunderstorm damage to a bunch of wiggers. Thunder is far worse than a sonic boom in terms of structural damage. Shame we can't tell God to keep his lightning over the ocean.
