Now I can finally ask these questions...

I'm fit, so I don't really need this, but something for transport would be nice.

Friction drives, what of them? Is there any practicality to having one on each wheel? Is the wheelspin sick? What's the fastest detachable models money can buy? I'm looking for electric.

I'd imagine they could be detached when they run out of juice, like those clip-on ones I've seen. Not so sure they make those anymore. Regardless, sounds a lot better than pedaling against a dead alternator.
