Are these shitty cheap brifters worth their money if I just want to convert my sport bike to a more roady bike for cheap?

Does your bike have an MTB front derailleur? Those have a different cable pull than road brifters. So you need a road front derailleur and crankset. But then you get issues with the chainline, which is different on road cranksets. So you might need a shorter crank axle. Which could lead to your chainring touching the chainstay.

front derailleurs go from position a to position b, maybe with a stop exactly in the middle if it's a triple, and you set up both a and b with screws. they can be pulled with a damn fork lockout lever. it's not like the voodoo lockbox of rear shifter, it's a straight pull on a parallelogram.

what do you mean by "sport" here? for that matter, what do you mean by "roady"?
to me, those both mean "drop bar road bike" but you obviously mean something different for at least one of these terms since you're converting from one thing to the other

position b is where the shifter's 2/3 is. it's closer to position a with a road shifter, but you just turn the screw more to move it out more to compensate.
