I remember getting to ride inside one of old models, and the pilot demonstrated what the difference was between airships and blimps by tapping his finger on the gas envelope (which was exposed as the "roof" of the gondola so-to-speak) and noting how it made a *blimp* sound whenever he tapped it, indicating there was no rigid structure inside of it.
