As a model train autiste I have to agree. I’m fairly high functioning with social skills and other interests but some of the people in the hobby are off the charts with the ‘tism, especially in more niche interests like traction or narrow gauge. Yet I see a lot of these boomer guys with wives and families and jobs, usually something engineering related, and feel like society used to be a lot more accommodating of quirky make behavior and had a need for them in the social order.
