>>2063661It's not about them keeing up with me because I don't go that fast, it's about them being too fast for the bike lane in general.
You see, pedal-powered bicycles are self-regulating, they make it easy to maintain speed but not build it up. You can only accelerate so many times before your legs are on fire, so you pick a speed you can go at consistently and stay with it, so you go at a safe speed and do predictable things. Electrics don't have that limiter, they are effortless, they can and will accelerate whenever they can, brake late and suddenly, weave around and constantly, relentlessly push, because they can.
Your freedom ends where others' freedom begins. Pedelecs are not infringing on anyone's freedoms any more than a regular bicycle with an athletic rider would. E-motorcycles are capable of speeds and acceleration wholely inappropriate for something sharing the space with regular bikes, nevermind pedestrians. Not just that, they are often faster than the actual plated 50cc scoters, and those haven't been allowed on bike lanes, well, ever.
That's why the cucked pedelecs are good- they give the grandma the ability to go uphill, without giving some 12-year old punk an unlicensed dirtbike, sans 2-smoke's deafening roar that might make them even just a bit self-conscious (and everyone else- a sign to step aside and maybe call the cops). Yes, it is embarassing, like wearing a diaper in public, but if you actually have incontience, it's better than streaming that shit into your pants or onto the ground.
