>>959017>It is when it's the kind of riding you might like to do, if not now then in the future. But if we're going to assume that he's going to want to be road racing in the future then why not also assume that he's going to be doing DH or BMXing? There are many people on here that don't do any competitive riding, probably the majority that actually post their bikes.
>The way you say it makes it sound so insignificantDepending on speed it can be fairly insignificant and not worth the disadvantages. Total riding time is also a factor, the longer the time the more time saved.
>Aero and speed actually have significant implications for comfort and and funYou're making the assumption that he rides for fun, that he finds going fast fun, and that the bike isn't fast enough to be fun. Whilst my flat bar bike is mainly used for commuting I also find it fun to ride and easily fast enough, and the flat bars give me greater control to ride stuff that I find fun (light off roading).
I don't see how being more aero can be more comfortable though, that's down to riding position and fit and some bikes even go as far as to sacrifice comfort for aero (TT bikes).
>I tend to be more comfortable on my drop bars than on my flat bars.Good for you, but not everyone is you.
