>>976405>standard non-articulated bus which also loses lots of valuable space for batteriesBattery buses are so far only practical for small buses.
I think VanHool recently presented a battery-powered biarticulated bus, itwill get likely less miles than their articulated electric, which gets like 200km (120 miles). On many networks that'll barely do for half a day, and the rest of the day is wasted since it takes too long to recharge.
Battery buses can be useful on less travelled lines, but for large buses on heavily travelled lines they offer no advantage at all over trolleybuses.
>inb4 hurr durr can't take detoursmodern trolleybuses have backup power or engine that allows for taking detours of up to a couple km with no problem.
Then again, why would anyone bother to spend gazillions on eletrifying lightly travelled bus lines with non-articulated units? That's not going to affect overall pollution in a significant way.
It pisses me off that people in my city have suddenly gotter huge hardons for battery buses, as if the electric bus hadn't existed before them (we even had trolleybuses once!).
Our former mayor has even said:
>Trams made sense 10 years ago because there were no electric buses [sic]. Now that we have electric buses, trams are pointles. He so can't into public transit he could be a burger.
