Cops will subpoena any security camera footage to help cagers but if there is an intentional hit and run killing a cyclist they just say "oh the cyclist probably was being unsafe, hopefully the driver will come forward" and then close the case

If you have any chance to knock off mirrors or otherwise damage a cage without getting caught it's your duty to do so, but don't take any risks

I do, with a wife and kids. Sometimes, you need to load things into the car and there are no spots, and there won't BE spots. Because you live there and you know.

So you park in the bike lane and bring the babies out in their car seats or unload groceries or WHATEVER.

You want to live in a city like NYC or similar accept the chaos that comes with it. If you can't handle going into the car lane for 10 seconds, you should not be riding you bike in the city

This isn't just edgy anarchist FTP shit. In most cities, at least in the US, the cops not only don't enforce a lot of cyclist-safety-relevant traffic law, they're usually some of the biggest offenders themselves.

In New York, there was even a case where a precinct took it upon themselves not only to store cars in the bike lane in front (which is standard) but to *paint over the bike and lane and turn it into marked parking spaces* without authorization from the DOT. That lasted about a week, but they still park there.

It is. There's a great number of drivers who don't like seeing bikes in the street, and it sends them into maximum autism when they see a bike lane there. They think you're supposed to be only there.
It wouldn't matter if I mad someone mad, especially when they're dumb and wrong, but you give them the anonymity of a car, which also gives them the ability to kill me and get away, yeah, it becomes a problem for me. I've had people try and hit me with their, or at the very least, try and scare me with it.

If one of these autismos happens to be out on the road at that time, I can all but guarantee you that they will no wait, they'll pass both me and the car I'm passing at an unsafe distance.
This happens quite often when I'm making a left onto my home street, and instead of waiting behind me as they would another car, no problem, they buzz very close and lay on their horns. (And we don't even have bikes lanes around here.)

You know what? No. I see this argument quite a bit here.
People who almost back into me in parking lots, while I'm driving, can go fuck themselves just as hard. I've never been hit this way, because I'm a good driver, and a good observer. But that doesn't change the fact that those people are clueless cunts or don't give a single fuck about the safety of anyone else but themselves.

Cyclist here. Do it. Just make sure you came to a complete stop at the line first and didn't just 'roll through' the stop sign like 90% of motorists do before criticizing bicyclists for also making a rolling stop.
