/n/, is it weird to never stand up when pedaling, especially up a hill?

I have a decent road bike and I never, ever stand up when pedaling, not even for a few revolutions, but I always see the guys who are more into riding doing it, even the ghetto kids on shitty bikes.

I don't think I have the balance to do it, but I also don't see the point, I go pretty smoothly sitting down (I'm a novice so it isn't going really fast and smooth, but standing up seems to jerk around a lot)
