Why is it that people only ever talk about cav vs kittel when this handsome German man has been winning about 10 grand tour stages a year for the last 4 years? Most consistent and most humble sprinter of this generation? Probably.

Yeah, and he was in the break this tour to work for De Gendt or Van Avarmaet. If I'm remembering correctly, he also was in a break at a spring classic (Tour of Flanders? It might have been Kittel) which is cool. Nice to see sprinters not just sprinting or slowly climbing

Won only the most prestigious sprint stage in the tour. And actually completed the tour unlike some other sprinters that gave up as soon as gradients went above 2 degrees.

I'm not saying he's not good. He's one of the best sprinters there is. He's also a great guy and gives top tier interviews.

Doesn't change the fact that I don't have the same respect for him as the Gorilla, who besides sprinting does a lot of work for his team.

Griepel was pretty cool. Hes a much more well rounded cyclist than Cavendish. Griepel does a lot of domestique duties for his team, he's humble too. Cavendish is a fucking douchebag crybaby that has an amazing sprint train and can't get over a hill to save his life.
Cavendish is in no way comparable to Merckx or Hinault with the same wins. Sprint wins by those two greats would be placed below that of the mountain stage victories and TT victories in terms of how significant those wins are.

Cavendish is an example of a pay to win rider. While he clearly is a strong sprinter, his team is bankrolled specifically to win stages for him. Just like Froome/Sky is stacked with cash and basically bought the tour.
