Is this a good bike for campus commuting? Need a new bike for this upcoming year at uni. I'll be in a fairly hilly town.

How many miles is a trip going to be?

If it's something easy like a few miles max then yes it will do 100% fine.

I see these word quite often her on /n/.
Forgive me if this seems like a stupid question, but just how large is an ordinary american campus? Because i can't even imagine a campus that's large enough that you'd want a bike to move around on it.

A lot of people in us college towns live off campus in apartments or whatever because it can be a lot cheaper.

Looks like a perfectly decent bike, and not a bad price right now. It would probably not be my first choice, but that all comes down to taste and preference.

I live in Europe and my university is divided into 3 campuses. You have to travel between classes from one campus to another and back. A bike is a nice option.

I rode around the campus on a fixed gear last year and it was doable but I'll be riding a lot more this year living off campus, 3 speed will do just fine

Buy the cheapest, most beat-up Craiglist bike you possibly can, and never fix it up. Why? It'll get stolen anyway, why waste money.

I bought a bike like this after reading to much sheldy and rivshit. Then I realized it's not the right kind of bike for me. I honestly don't see a big advantage of a 3 speed over a single speed, although this might just me being spoiled from having 20+ gears on a road bike.
