They don't go in your ears at all. They sit right on your cheekbones and vibrate noise into your skull.

It feels bizarre at first but works very well. You can easily hear road noise while also enjoying music and such.

About 30 bucks for ones that don't require a battery. Those have a rather low max volume, but are convenient if you're not riding in an area with too much ambient noise. Panasonic makes a decent, cheap pair.

Want maps? Get a proper bike computer like a Garmin.

Want music (or other media)? Wear a proper cycling jersey (mountain or road) that has pockets and use headphones so you don't destroy your phone.
