>>991481Where did I ever say I haven't crashed on bike. I've had my fair share of stupid crashes but they've all taught me what not to do.
One of the lessons is that lowsider > highsider in every and any situation if you have to choose. Same applies to motorcycles. The reason why you prefer lowsider is because the potential injuries are much less severe, especially on a bicycle when you don't have any protective gear except a helmet. Had she done a nice lowsider there she would've hit the curb feet first and probably could've kept racing if her bike didn't break. Obviously she'd have some road rash but that's hardly anything new to cyclist.
So you get some fishtailing in a curve. Accept a possible crash, lock up the rear for good, let go of the front brake completely, steer to the direction you want to go, keep your weight on the inside so that if you crash it you'll end up lowsiding instead of highsiding OTB, and try to skid it out. If you can't skid it out and happen to crash it's a controlled lowsider instead of a highsider without any control.
However what got her to that situation in the first place is the god awful line she took to the corner. In a peloton you can't always choose your lines around the corners but she was alone. She should've scouted out that descent and know the corners, especially the blind ones. She should know that it's better to hit an apex too late than too early. She came to that corner like someone who's coming down it for the first time in their life and gets surprised about a corner that tightens towards the end.
