An OTS (old ten speed, steel road bike from 70s-90s era) is a good option if you ride only on pavement and like going fast. A 90s rigid mtb (mountain bike from the 90s, no suspension) is a good option if you want something that isn't quite so GOTTA GO FAST oriented, you'll just want to replace the tires with semislicks.
If you want to buy new, expect to spend between $700 and $1400 for something decent. Some bikes to consider if buying new:
