the trial date for Robert Telles, the former Clark County public administrator accused of killing a veteran Las Vegas journalist, has been pushed to the fall.

Court records indicate the originally scheduled start date of April 17 was vacated after a status check hearing Wednesday.

Jury trial is now scheduled to begin on Nov. 6, with a court hearing planned for May 3 to check on trial readiness.

Telles was arrested last year for the murder of Review-Journal reporter Jeff German, who was found stabbed to death outside of his home.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police alleged that Telles's DNA was found on German's body during an autopsy. They said investigators also found clothing in Telles's house that matched those worn by a person of interest captured on video near the scene of the attack.

Prosecutors have argued that Telles had motive to kill German, saying in previous court hearings that German's reporting on allegations of misconduct likely contributed to Telles's defeat in June's Democratic primary.

Telles has pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder but has not provided any further comment on the case.

Clark County successfully petitioned to remove Telles from office before his term expired. He remains held at Clark County Detention Center without bail.
