>A 40-year-old man in Delhi died after he suffered a heatstroke amid the continued extreme heatwaves in the national capital. The deceased, a native of Bihar, was being treated at the Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) hospital and died during treatment.

>This is the first such heat-related death in Delhi and comes a day after the national capital recorded the highest maximum temperature of 52.3 degree Celsius, a reading the IMD said could be an “error.”

>According to reports, the deceased was working at a factory manufacturing pipeline fittings. He was brought in by his roommate and other factory workers post-midnight on Monday.

>The doctors treating the patient said that the man was living in a room with no fan or a cooler and due to the extreme heat, he developed a very high fever.

>“His body temperature shot up above 107 degrees Fahrenheit,” the doctor said.

>Meanwhile, to prepare for the exigencies due to current weather conditions, Delhi government-run hospitals have reserved two beds each for heatstroke patients while five beds will be reserved at the LNJP Hospital, Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said on Monday.

This is great news for anyone who has had to compete with cheap Indian labor over the last decade.

It's only May so hopefully there'll be some real hot days ahead and some quadruple digit death tolls per day.
