The Taliban celebrated the third anniversary of the regime’s rise to power in Afghanistan by holding a celebration at a former U.S. air base and parading U.S. military vehicles that were abandoned in the disastrous withdrawal under the Biden-Harris administration in 2021.
According to The Associated Press, the Taliban held a celebration at Bagram Air Base, which previously served as the center of U.S. operations against the Taliban and al-Qaida terrorists in Afghanistan.
“The Islamic Emirate eliminated internal differences and expanded the scope of unity and cooperation in the country,” Deputy Prime Minister Maulvi Abdul Kabir said in a speech urging Western countries to cooperate with the Taliban’s leadership. “No one will be allowed to interfere in internal affairs, and Afghan soil will not be used against any country.”

The Associated Press reported that Wednesday’s celebration also featured a Taliban parade that showcased military vehicles abandoned by the United States and NATO-led forces during the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal, including Humvees, tanks, and helicopters. The outlet reported that Taliban soldiers marched in uniform with machine guns, while a motorcycle formation displayed the Taliban’s flag.
