Indonesia is in turmoil right now. Millions are sharing a blue picture labeled "Emergency Warning." Here’s what’s happening:

In less than 72 hours, the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), dominated by President-Elect Prabowo’s coalition, is rushing a bill that could secure more power for President Jokowi's political dynasty. The bill would allow Jokowi's son to run for office, despite a recent court decision lowering the election threshold.

This is seen as another move in Jokowi's autocratic playbook, benefiting the oligarchy. Last year, they changed the age requirements so Jokowi's younger son, Gibran, could run for Vice President, which he won. Now, there are signs Kaesang, Jokowi's youngest son, might run for Jakarta’s top spot.

This isn’t just about politics—it's about control over Indonesia’s lucrative mining sector. A 2018 report highlighted how the mining industry funds political campaigns due to a lack of government subsidies. This creates a cycle of corruption, with elites exploiting the system for profit.

We’re fed up with this abuse of power. Tomorrow, thousands will protest in Jakarta, calling out these violations of democracy. If you're around, join us in front of the House of Representatives and the Presidential Palace.
