A cemetery worker who was involved in an altercation with two Trump staffers at Arlington National Cemetery this week declined to press charges for fear of “retribution.”
Two officials with former President Donald Trump’s campaign were accused of verbally abusing and shoving a cemetery worker during a wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday after the worker allegedly attempted to prevent the staffers from filming in a restricted area of the cemetery where recent U.S. military casualties are buried.
On Wednesday, the New York Times reported that while the cemetery worker “filed an incident report with the military authorities over the altercation,” they “later declined to press charges” for fear of “retaliation” from Trump’s supporters.
Following the incident, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung denied the allegations against the two staffers and claimed the cemetery worker was “suffering from a mental health episode” during the altercation.
