However, it is unclear if Routh actually voted in 2016.

North Carolina voter records show he voted in 2012, but show a gap between 2012 and 2024, when the unaffiliated voter cast a vote in the Democratic primary in North Carolina.

Federal campaign finance records indicate he made 19 small political donations totaling $140 between 2019 and 2020 using his Hawaii address through ActBlue, a PAC that supports Democrats. His contributions were earmarked for Gabbard

According to the Associated Press, in June 2020, after the killing of George Floyd, Routh reportedly tweeted he believed that then-President Trump could win reelection by issuing an executive order to prosecute police misconduct.

He also posted on social media about COVID-19 conspiracy theories, particularly the conspiracy theory that the virus was a Chinese bioweapon.

He has been federally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
