Fierce battles are taking place in Syria between the opposition forces and the forces of Bashar al-Assad's regime. The rebel coalition, which includes the extremist organization "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham" and units supported by Turkey, launched a large-scale attack against the positions of the Syrian army and the pro-Iranian militias in western Aleppo.

The rebels announced the operation under the name of "curbing aggression", whose purpose, according to them, is to expand the areas to which refugees can return "with security and dignity". During the operation, the rebels captured several settlements, among them the villages of Sheikh Akhil, Jamiat al-Ma'ari and Bala. It was also reported that the strategic Base 46 had been successfully captured, a move confirmed by sources connected to the opposition forces. Many weapons were seized at the base, including tanks, APCs and missiles.

Heavy fighting is also taking place in the provinces of Idlib and West Aleppo. In response to the advance of the jihadists, the Syrian army and its Russian allies activated the air force and attacked the rebel positions. However, these operations did not succeed in stopping the breakthrough of the front: the attacking forces occupied additional territories, including central junctions and essential supply routes.
