Example: USA has free speech laws. All US citizens have the right to unmitigated speech, so long as they do not incite imminent violence against anyone, or say/publish anything that is obscene.
The only exception to this is Israel.
US politicians will frequently break the US constitution to protest Israel from criticism. They recently arrested a bunch of students that were protesting Israel on campuses, for example.
The other way they do it is funding NGOs that are purposefully designed to wage economic warfare against critics. If you are caught on social media criticizing Israel, they will harass your bank until they close your account, harass your boss until they fire you, or outright firebomb your house if they find you to be extremely annoying.
US politicians also compete against each other to support Israel at the expense of the American people.
