Do you have any idea how much infrastructure would need to be in place for electric vehicles to be of use anywhere near the front lines of a conflict?
Electric vehicles have been the talk of the US army's idea think tanks for years, and every time they realize that they're an awful idea.
You have something that works, is cheaper, more maintainable, well-tested, and has no additional logistical issues.
Why in the name of everything green on Earth, would there be a need for a switch?
The environment? That is the absolute last thing on anyone's mind during actual military operations. The environment is cover and concealment, and will be topographically remapped with shelling en masse, at a blistering speed, to keep troops on our side in better states than the enemy.
The absolute only thing electric vehicles would be good for is driving around US-based military installations, and only for very few situations. Most of those other times involve driving literally anywhere on those bases, which are mostly off-road open areas, that does not have a power grid connected with appropriate charging situations. Any electric vehicle is just another spanner in the works.
Also Tesla Trucks have god-awful trunk space, despite being big enough to have their own zip code. It's baffling how they managed to fuck that up, and they wouldn't even be useful for hauling gear.
