Pet raccoon with meth pipe found in driver's seat during traffic stop

No.1404102 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Springfield Township police arrested 55-year-old Victoria Vidal during a May 5 traffic stop in Akron after finding her pet raccoon holding a meth pipe in the driver's seat.
Officers stopped the vehicle around 7:15 p.m. After learning the driver had an outstanding warrant and her license was revoked, leading to an inspection of the car.
The vehicle search revealed a large quantity of methamphetamine and crack cocaine, along with three previously used glass pipes typically associated with meth use, while Vidal’s pet raccoon, Chewy, was found safe and unharmed.
Vidal was charged with drug possession, three separate violations related to drug paraphernalia, and driving while her license was suspended, with additional crack cocaine charges expected pending the results from the BCI laboratory.
Authorities are confirming Vidal's legal ownership of the raccoon, while Springfield Township police noted that encountering a raccoon in possession of a meth pipe was an unprecedented situation as they continue their efforts to maintain community safety.
