Longtime ally of Donald Trump, Roger Stone, attacked a Democratic lawmaker after the Senator called out "blatant corruption" by the president.
In an email sent Friday, Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) said that he called out Trump's crypto coins and his effort to make "millions of dollars" from the effort. Kelly noted that he co-sponsored legislation that would make it illegal for top officials to engage in what he called crypto "corruption."
The End Crypto Corruption Act would ban the president, vice president, top administration officials and their immediate families "from issuing, endorsing, or sponsoring crypto assets, such as meme coins and stablecoins," Kelly's senate website said.
The site also explained that Trump's "crypto assets now account for nearly 40% of his wealth, and his net worth has increased by $2.9 billion thanks to crypto investments." The Kelly legislation endeavors to stop conflicts of interest with a "blanket prohibition" on such investments that "could be self-serving," the site said.

Kelly posted on X about his support of the measure on Wednesday, citing his colleague, Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR), who authored the legislation.
That's when Stone attacked.
Reposting Kelly's comments, Stone said, "Senator Mark Kelly is cashing in on his US Senate seat as a partner in a Chinese communist company that makes surveillance balloons. He should be charged with treason and if convicted executed, consistent with federal law."
Kelly served in the Navy for 25 years, and joined NASA in 1996. He left both after an assassination attempt on his wife, former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-AZ), Fox News reported at the time.
