Today, September 8th, 2025, in Nepal, especially in its capital kathmandu, at a place called Maitighar, a protest was held.
In some of the international Media it is portrayed that the protest was to unban social media. While that was also one of the agenda of the protest, it certainly wasn't the main one.
The main agenda was ban of corruption.
The children of ministers are flexing their wealth, the ministers are wearing $42k+ watch, while the condition of the country remained in vain.
So, to raise awareness against that, a protest was held, but it became more than a protest. It became a graveyard for the students(around 17 years), for the Gen-Z people.
20 people have been confirmed dead, and they were shot by the police, they were murdered by the one that is supposed to protect them. The police have claimed that they were using "Rubber" bullets, but metal bullets were extracted from the shot people.
The school bags that are supposed to carry the ambition and dreams of the students, carried their own blood, it was a terrible sight to see.
Furthermore, in the Civil Hospital, police have been reported to barge in and shoot the ER's door, throw tear gasses and many more.
I want to know where the Human Rights Activists are? Why are they silent? Or does the root of the corruption goes deeper than we imagine?
After the protest, Our Prime Minister is planning to ban social media thoroughly making it inaccessible through VPNs or changing DNS, he is not addressing the situation properly, no accountability is taken for the deaths or the injured people.
All i ask for is justice for the families of the dead and the safety of the citizens.
