Day 10 of making a thread every day until Democrats allow the US government to re-open

Day 10 Updates:

At the heart of the standoff is Democratic Party demands that Republicans agree to an additional $700bn in spending by restoring cuts to healthcare that were enacted over the summer and make permanent the expiring temporary COVID emergency health care credits enacted in 2023 that are due to expire Jan 1, 2026.

Reminders:
1. Republicans could pass the continuing resolution with a simple majority in the Senate right now but are refusing to do so. For reference, they passed the initial One Big Beautiful Bill Act this CR stems from with a simple majority of 51 two months ago.
2. As of now there have also been no public acknowledgements of any concessions being offered by Senate Republicans to incentivize Democrats to vote for the CR.
3. There is nothing preventing the House of Representatives from reconvening during the shutdown, and as Speaker Mike Johnson has full power to block any attempts by Democrats in the House from introducing an amended resolution.
4. Speaker Johnson refusing to reconvene the House does allow him to delay swearing in Adelita Grijalva, a Democrat representative who won her special election last week. She has also pledged to be the 219th signatory of a petition to force a House floor vote on a bill that would require the DOJ to release all files connected to the Jeffrey Epstein child sex trafficking ring.
5. A continued government shutdown allows the Bureau of Labor Statistics, under the umbrella of the executive branch headed by President Donald Trump, to postpone releasing September's unemployment and inflation reports. For reference, their August report showed inflation and unemployment ticking up to their highest levels since Trump took office.

6. Additionally, Speaker Johnson refusing to call the House until the shutdown ends forces Republicans in the Senate to only offer the CR as it exists now and prevents them from making any changes or amendments, as doing so would require those amendments, once passed, to go back to the House for approval. Meaning even if Senate Republicans wanted to compromise to gain the last handful of necessary Democrat votes, Speaker Johnson has made it impossible for them to do so.

This is false it only has 45 votes to support it whereas the cr has 55 votes. In reality, what you mean, is that the Democrats could pass the cr right now with a simple majority if they just let it be voted on

The nuclear option bypasses filibuster rules, meaning if Republicans evoked it Democrats would not have the ability to prevent the vote from proceeding and passing with a simple majority.

Because three months ago the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that the CR currently causing the shutdown stems from was pushed through using the nuclear option, which again bypasses filibuster rules.

If they don't want to do that, the next step would be to negotiate to get the votes necessary to pass the bill
But now Mike Johnson has taken that option off the table, not that Republicans have shown any public interest in it to begin with
Which means Republicans are saying "Bend the knee and give us everything we want in exchange for nothing but mockery, or we will continue to hold the country hostage"
And that's their choice.

So many threads here, even political threads, start off reasonable enough, then someone from one side are the other, jumps in and starts throwing out insults and ad hominem. And there are anons from both sides of the aisle on this board that do that.
And that either causes a troll from the other side to show up and start arguing or one of the anons who were having a reasonable discussion lose their cool because they think the person they were talking to just went off the deep end, and the whole thing falls apart
As it stands right now, especially since they got rid of the unique ID counter sitewide, we're all just arguing blind and have no idea if the person we're arguing with now is the same person we've been talking with for the last five posts
