Colorado is legislating age Verification at the OS level.
https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/SB26-051
Not packed in with another regulation. Not hidden. Not the implications of some other law. Its just a law that requires Operating systems to prompt you for age verification at setup.
They're saying that the verification is only supposed to take the minimum amount of information to verify age, but I don't trust that this won't be used for digital ID and targeted ads. Especially when the penalty is only for minors that are affected by negligence of this law.
>A person that violates the bill must pay a civil penalty of not more than $2,500 for each minor affected by each negligent violation or not more than $7,500 for each minor affected by each intentional violation. The penalty is assessed and recovered in a civil action brought by the attorney general.
So as far as this summary shows there is no penalty for using that digital ID for marketing and law enforcement/intelligence agency tracking.
