Seth Rogen has addressed the critical response to Santa Inc., claiming “tens of thousands of white supremacists” are to blame for the HBO Max series’ overwhelmingly negative reception.

And you're right, if it comes to marketing, they will surely take a social progressive marketing strategy if that's what they think will appear to their customer base.

Of course not. It depends on the corporation, what demographics they're selling to and the general temperature of the public. No corporation is going to swing farther left than the general public is willing to accept. Of course not all corporations. John Deere isn't going to be aiming at progressives. Remington isn't going to be aiming at progressives. We're talking primarily about entertainment companies here in this thread and clearly they appeal primarily to progressives.

Well you gotta remember that the old fucks who own these big companies aren't necessarily plugged in to the pulse of modern society. They're not the ones making these calls. They contract all of their advertising work out to other agencies who often times bet on progressive messaging to stir up some buzz for their clients and miss the mark. There's some cringey shit out there, for sure.

I disagree. Depending on the product, sometimes it can sell just on buzz alone. I mean, how many god awful products in the 90's were worldwide sensations simply because the commercials were bright and loud, marketed to "cool kids" and had an NSYNC song in the background? Remember swatches? That was one of the flimsiest pieces of shit I ever owned yet they were one of the biggest products in the country. I think if you play it right you can get anything to sell if you convince the consumer that all the cool kids are buying it. No product ever really has to stand on its own in quality if you have the right marketing strategy.

Sure. I mean, I guess it just depends on how far you're willing to go. Some attempts seem more comical and transparent than others but so long as there's a potentially untapped consumer market a profit driven company will always try to hack their way into it. I'm not sure what percentage of people genuinely believe that corporations are on this side but, to a certain extent, I don't think that many people care. If Old Navy's new official pride gear makes your friends like you and coworkers accept you and strangers drawn to you then who really gives a shit why Old Navy sold it to you, you know what I mean?

The rates aren't dropping. The rates of same-sex relationships dropped slightly in 2019 but there was a similar dip in the early 2000s and mid 20teens. Acceptance is still at a record high with no signs of a permanent downward trend.
