you're right, forests are not meaningfully renewable. (this wasn't really being disputed, but whatever..)
but tree plantations are renewable. we should have more of those so that we can get wood without having to cut down non-renewable forests.
we are not going to start building houses out of plastic and hemp or any other disgusting cretinous bugman material. we're also not going to build primarily out of concrete or stone or glass because it's not any more efficient to do so and it's even less renewable anyway.
admitting there's demand for wood is not being a logger/forester shill, it's being in touch with reality. wood is the best material we have to build out of. It always has been, and it always will be. Admit it or don't, it is what it is.
