Nevada is probably the best /out/state there is aside from like Idaho or montana.
In nevada depending on where you live, you are about 30-60min away from any out activity you could possibly want to do.

Yeah no joke, I was at a ~3,500 person convention in DTLA a couple of years ago and I was literally the only person I met at the whole thing that was actually from LA.

If you're white and from California (especially the big cities) you basically have to leave to get anywhere in life too, it's impossible to break into any kind of career when you're outnumbered 10:1 by people applying from out of state and (except for a few rich kids who had everything handed to them) every single friend I grew up with who's been successful did it after moving out of state and everybody I knew in LA who was successful there came from somewhere else.

Everyone I knew left Sacramento right after college I moved north to work in the tree industry and it's a repeat of what happend in Sac. Almost everyone moving into my town is from the bay area or Nevada/Texas. Not OP but as a CA native who left there just wasn't much there for me anymore, you basically have to either be a trust fund hippie transplant or a foreigner to have a place there and I couldn't deal with the constant frustration and stress of dealing with the ubiquitous crime, homelessness, urban decay, crowding, traffic, insane regulations, and people who are 99% stuck-up antisocial assholes anymore.

Also, it may be the best /out/ state in theory but the problem is that everything close to the cities most people have to live in is overcrowded and trashed and all the stuff that's still good is a 6 hour drive away.

It's not about making it. I did. I managed a successful industry-leading business, had a nice house in a nice neighborhood, etc. The quality of life is still shit, hard to find anybody to hang out with or especially women to date that aren't either holier than thou vegan yoga types or complete druggie party degenerates, doing anything involves hours in traffic and then fighting through crowds or waiting in lines, lots of /out/-related shit isn't viable there or requires a 3+ hour drive, and having to pass by all the urban decay and knowing that you're never really far enough from crime-infested slums even if you live in a nice neighborhood (unless you're way out in the sticks with a 4 hour commute) gets to you too.
