>>2822291Because nobody knows how to fish, nor do they bother to learn. They just want to get drunk with their mates and get away from the wife's nagging.
99.9% of fishing is about getting up way before dawn, not making noise, moving slowly, listening (to birdlife, they tell you where the fish are), spotting, baiting, interpreting. The best tool BY FAR is a pair of polaroid sunglasses. There are different kinds. More Polaroid = better. Camo clothes don't help much. Most fish have far better eye sight than we do. They can detect up to 40k different colours, compared to our 4k. Stay low, hide behind bushes.
Fish move around during the day and during the year. So should you. Some strains of the same species will follow the wind, while others will go against it. You may catch tons of little fish in a low stock big fish pit, and wonder wtf is going on. The big ones are at the other end 99.9% of the time.
The faster you recognize this, the better you'll become as an angler. It's not about gear and it's only a little bit about bait and creating bait competition (0.1%).
Whatever you do: don't go fishing "to that good spot". It's the most counterproductive thing you could possibly do.
>t. spent a fortune on gear and bait before learning to fish
