Getting people into the outdoors helps them to appreciate its pristine beauty.
Anyone who is part of geocatche culture has also learned to leave no trace, The geocatches themselves are not permanent and are easy to replace or gather up and remove once the lifespan is done

They box itself is temporary and gets removed.
The big problem with cairns is the removal of the rock and disturbance of micro environments. Nothing like this happens with the geocatches
Signage keeps people on the trails instead of bushwacking so we also disagree on that

You can put signage on trails used by regular people but if you can't check a map at the fork of a road or trail you shouldn't be allowed more then 10km from a parking lot.

I don't see a lot of em being removed. They are either left forever in the woods discarded or much less likely replaced with fresh litter. This hobby will die out entirely in the next 10 years and there will be hundreds of thousands of old plastic film containers pill bottles tupperware etc just left in the woods as litter.

It may die out , but these geocatches are routinely removed by the hosts that placed them or by geocatchers that find abandoned ones. This us built into the culture.
Leave no trace is one of the foundational principles that the whole hobby was built to teach

in your response to my previous post you literally said "abandoned ones" and beyond that the principles of leave no trace indicate you shouldn't be leaving anything anywhere without having an "immediate" removal plan. The only time you are allowed to leave stuff in the woods is like an old school style siege climbing event where you have to pack in a lot of gear to make an attempt but even then since it is "leave no trace" you have to take everything out with you when you leave at the end of the week or two you can't just leave a waterproof box with supplies waiting for you in the woods. That is not LEAVE NO TRACE. I understand you wish to bend the rules and ethics of leave no trace to include your hobby (littering) but I personally will not let you mentally warp a solid concept like leave no trace just so you can feel good about your stupid wasteful hobby.

Yes, sometimes the person that places them wanders off. The geocatche is still in the system and it gets flagged for removal by the next person that gets there. This works really well
