If you’re worried about weight you wouldn’t be wearing shoes that can’t dry out while hiking, so you don’t need shoes for water crossing. If weight isn’t a concern, there are better options. As someone mentioned, Crocks fit fairly loosely, so they’re not suitable for some creeks. I guess it depends on the creek.
If you’re just looking for camp shoes, dollar store flip flops are lighter but the best option is still a DIY CCF sandal. Flopeeze are a good alternative as well (search for it). None of these will be nearly as durable as Crocks, but if you’re only wearing them to walk from your tent to a log then to a bush to take a shit, they’ll hold up just fine.
