>>347915Ed Stafford presented dangerous and misleading information (“I was the first ever and only person to walk the length of the Amazon River”; “No one’s ever survived sixty days on a desert island without any tools or clothing”) and put the people’s lives who believe in his bullshit at risk. He is the same as Bear Grylls. If me being an asshole means that younger, inexperienced, and otherwise unprepared people take the time to read up on all of the people I have been linking, I am fully okay with being an asshole. The wilderness isn’t kind or sympathetic, and survival isn’t a fantasy LARP. Nature is a cruel fucking bitch, and by presenting stark and truthful information hopefully the people reading my asshole comments will actually learn something that will be conducive to their own survival. What I won't do, however, is put a fraud on a pedestal to fawn over. Having a death drive by exposing yourself to unnecessary risks and hazards is NOT a romantic notion, it is simply and purely a dangerous one. Dying alone, in a dark and bitterly cold place because of a complete lack of skill and preparation sounds like the worst kind of death to me. A meaningless death in which you finally come to terms and realize that you are a total failure at the singular purpose of life, living. Here are a few more examples of incompetent people that hastily rushed to their own horrific demise:
