A lot of people who follow Asatru do so for their heritage, or because they see it as a reactionary movement to Christianity. Personally, I read a little more on their beliefs following a period of Atheism, and found that their values match up with my own a lot more than other religions. I still wouldn't consider myself a strongly religious person, but I'm happy enough with where my spirituality is.
