>>126602>they're starting to produce their first fruits.Huh ? So soon ? Are they being grown indoors or in a greenhouse ? Once blooming, some yellowing of the lower leafs is to be expected and nothing to worry about. See
>>120753I went to check on my neighbors and my grandparents their tomatoes and they're looking as bad as mine, so I'm chalking it up to the cold.
>>126241I'm not that other anon but I too have been looking into apiculture for about a year now. My problem however is severe time constraints.
I am considering a low-maintenance hive if such a thing is at all possible ? Just to have some bees around to pollinate my crops. I'd leave them be(e) and they can keep their honey (until I find more time to invest). Can I count on the hive to keep itself healthy these days without too much micro-managing (varoa, ..) ? What design would work best for my purpose ? I was considering a topbar, since easy access and easy maintenance shouldn't be a concern. I could easily make one myself to keep it cheap. Maybe bumblebees are a better choice in this case ? The largest bumblebee breeding facility in the world is only a 40min drive away; they have a nice supply.
I rarely use pesticides (last time was 3 years ago) and have blooming bee-friendly plants throughout the season in my garden; I'm pretty sure they would be ok 'foodwise'.
Pic unrelated; first strawberry this year.
