Hunters: how do you care for the land you enjoy?
Do you take any steps to groom it? Plant it? Clear it?
This weekend, I'm going out to do some work on a small 6-acre family plot that I get to bowhunt the back 2 acres of. This "back woods" part of the property is basically unmaintained and is part of a 6 acre island of native trees with an intermittent creek in an area dominated by farm fields.
My agenda is as follows:
>clear debris and sticks from existing game trails
>improve bedding areas for whitetail deer
>scout for "hunting trees" to perch in
>improve stream access for deer and turkey
>determine where to place a gravity-fed corn feeder
>determine where, if anywhere, to place a ground-blind for turkey
What do you do during the off-season to improve your hunt?
