I've been thinking of making a shepherd's axe from an old felling axe. I imagine they make good walking sticks if you have a sheath over the blade. I've been browsing garage sales looking for a felling axe that's worthy of my handiwork (basically any that's not made in China or India) but haven't had any luck and don't want to spend more than $10 on it.
Once I find one it's just a matter of making the dotted line, setting it in a vise, and getting to work with a hacksaw.
